TRAINING AND SENSITIZATION WORKSHOP FOR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT SUPPORT OFFICERS (SISOS) ON CHILD LABOUR-RELATED ACTIVITIES

On July 23rd, a training was held to create awareness of child labour and its impact on education. This equiped SISOs with strategies for identifying and addressing cases of child labour in their communities and also to strengthen collaboration among key stakeholders in the fight against child labour and refresh their minds on their roles and responsibilities in the fight.

Enhanced Knowledge: Participants demonstrated an improved understanding of child labour and its implications for education and the various referral pathways to follow for remediation.

Understanding Legal and Policy Frameworks: The workshop also highlighted the national and international laws governing child labour, including the Children’s Act and relevant ILO Conventions. The participants were guided on how these frameworks apply to their roles as SISOs.

Strengthened Collaboration: The program fostered stronger partnerships among stakeholders in the fight against child labour.

The two-day training and sensitization workshop successfully equipped SISOs with the knowledge and tools needed to address child labour in the Assin South District. With their enhanced capacity, they are now better positioned to ensure children remain in school and thrive in a safe learning environment.
