MEDICAL OUTREACH FOR BASIC SCHOOLS UNDER THE HERSHEY’S ENERGISED LEARNING PROJECT IN ASSIN SOUTH DISTRICT

The Assin South District Assembly in collaboration with the Hershey Company and a team of Medical students from the Pennsylvania state medical school organized a medical outreach program for Saint Louis Catholic, Sibinso Catholic and Odumasi basic Schools on Friday 7th July, 2023.

The Medical outreach exercise focused much on basic best hygiene practices, water and sanitation as well as nutrition related issues. This is part of the Hershey’s corporate social responsibilities (CSR) to impact positively on the society within which it operates.

This medical outreach was a fall out from a meeting the said team had with the heads of the respective beneficiary schools in February 2023, which sought to identify a number of challenges these basic schools were facing particularly in the area of health.

The Programme was very successful. The District Chief Executive, the District Coordinating Director, heads of the beneficiary schools as well as the school children were excited to have such an opportunity to have benefited from such an initiative from the team.

The team assured the various stakeholders of their continues support in this direction.

The District Chief Executive – Hon. Felicia Amissah Ntrakwah, who was excited about this initiative expressed her appreciation towards their effort and encouraged them to organize more of such programmes.
