INAUGURATION OF SANITARY PAD DISTRIBUTION TO BASIC SCHOOLS IN ASSIN SOUTH BY HON. JONATHAN BIRIKORANG, THE DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF ASSIN SOUTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

On 8th July, 2025, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Jonathan Birikorang, together with the Director of Education, Mr. Isaac Inkoom, staff of GES, and the District Assembly, officially launched the distribution of sanitary pads to basic schools in Assin South.

This initiative forms part of government’s commitment to promoting menstrual hygiene, gender equality, and ensuring that no girl misses school due to her menstrual cycle. A total of *Twenty One Thousand (21,000)* pads were received, and each girl is entitled to *four pieces*. The distribution is being done in phases to benefit all 100 public and 36 private basic schools in the district.

The DCE encouraged the girls to take their education seriously and not miss school especially during their menstrual periods.
He expressed appreciation to the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the Ministry of Education, and all stakeholders for making this timely intervention possible.

Schools distributed today; Ahenkro D/A Exp. Basic Methodist, Sibinso R/C & Kyinaso D/A Basic Domeabra D/A, Nkran Ngresi D/A, Prophetess Mary Boafo Memorial, Darmang Catholic A&B, Jonell Johnson Memorial & Manso D/A A&B ,Andoe D/A Basic A & B.

The exercise continues in the coming days to ensure all schools are covered.
