HANDING OVER OF DESKS TO GES BY THE DCE OF ASSIN SOUTH, HON. FELICIA NTRAKWAH AMISSAH

In a significant effort to improve the educational infrastructure within the Assin South District, the District Chief Executive (DCE) , Hon. Felicia Ntrakwah Amissah handed over a consignment of newly procured desks to the Ghana Education Service (GES) on Friday, 23rd August. 2024.
This initiative is aimed at enhancing the learning environment for students in both kindergarten and primary schools within the district.
As part of this initiative, **300 hexagonal desks and 190 dual desks** were acquired, designed specifically to meet the needs of 60 Kindergarten and Primary schools in the district. The hexagonal desks, which are suitable for collaborative learning in early childhood education settings, will accommodate multiple students per desk. To complement these desks, **1,800 chairs** were provided, ensuring that each of the 300 hexagonal desks can seat six students.
In addition to the procurement of the desks, the district also took steps to ensure the durability and identification of these items. All of the desks were sprayed and embossed with the relevant logos and identification marks, ensuring that they are easily recognizable as district property and that their maintenance will be a priority.
During the handover ceremony, the DCE emphasized the district’s commitment to providing quality educational facilities. The provision of these desks is seen as a critical step in ensuring that students have a conducive learning environment. The DCE further encouraged the schools to maintain the desks properly so they can serve students for many years to come.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) expressed gratitude for the donation, recognizing the importance of such contributions in addressing the furniture deficit in schools.
 *This gesture is expected to benefit 1,800 for KG kids and 380  pupils making a total of 2,180 students* and contribute to improving the quality of education in the district.
This intervention aligns with broader national goals of enhancing education at the foundational level, ensuring that all children have the resources necessary for their academic development.
