CONSTITUENCY LEVEL PARLIAMENTRY DEBATE 2024 BY NCCE

The Assin South Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education facilitated the holding of the constituency level parliamenty debate 2024.Pertinently the parliamentary candidates vying for the seat are as follows Hon. John Ntim Fordjour(NPP), Stephen Kofi Baidoo (NDC) and Joseph Kofi Damtse the Independent Candidate among them the Invitation was honored by only the Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) Hon. John Ntim Fordjour. The debate provided the Parliamentary candidate the opportunity to interact with constituents as he expressed views on how their interest in Parliament will be represented and also afford the electorate the opportunity to hear from the candidate’s responses to their issues of concern which will enable them to make informed choices and decisions during the 2024 general elections, hence hold the Parliamentary Candidate accountable if elected.

The debate canvassed a broad range of matters of Education, Health, Women and Children, Agriculture, Road and Infrastructure, Corruption, Sports, Economy, Youth Development and Employment with careful structured questions by the commissions research team based on findings from the research conducted on the matters of concern to the Constituents.

The Moderator for the debate was the Information Service Director of the Assin South District Assembly in the person of Mr. Wilberforce Doudo and Mr. Derrick Deh the Time Keeper was also a staff of the National Commission for Civic Education. The Attendance Was Great. There were Two Hundred and Fifteen (215) People comprising of Eighty-Three (83) Males and One Hundred and Thirty-Two (132) Females. In attendance was community members, Identifiable Groups, Some Chiefs from the District and a representative from the Regional Office in the person of Mr Benjamin Ofori(Auditor).

Ultimately the debate played a key role in reducing political tension and fostering a more harmonious atmosphere within the constituency
